Run #793 - Tiny Bubbles Goes Crazy At Brentwood

April 27, 1998

It was a beautiful spring night to be out on a hash, about 16 degrees and sunny. Polevault did his usual muttering to the unruly crowd of about 50. He introduced the new boot Jennifer and the archive hashers TPL, Yabba Dabba Doo, Fuzz Buster, Shady Lady and Swallow It. Not To Deep was worried about the sun going down and it cooling off quickly. Silly me tod her we'd be in way before the sun set at 8.30. We all seemed to be waiting for the Hare to arrive (so I thought anyway) when the co-hare Wet Butt stepped in but didn't seem to know much of what was going on. So the pack just took off at about 7.20pm. Was I the only one that didn't hear that it was a live hare run?

Wet Butt was referring to her notes (left by Tiny Bubbles) to figure out which way the trail was leading. The trail twisted around the Brentwood Mall area and headed for the University. The trail ended up leading through several buildings and into the Phys-ed building. The trail was difficult to follow due to lack of markings. (Later it was reported that the cleaning staff was sweeping up all these little piles of flour with looks of disgust on their faces). I also noted that two security guards didn't even blink an eye as the hashers ran and shouted on-on inside the Phys-ed building. They are obviously used to a lot of noise from the students.

About this point, the pack split into about three groups. One followed the real trail, one apparently ran about the University area, while the last headed towards the regroup with Wet Butt. The real trail headed west across Shaganapi Trail and played up and down along the hill for a while, heading toward Home Road. It then turned down the hill again to follow along the river. After what seemed like an hours run along the river it turned back up the hill and ended up at Lakey and Petooey's for a regroup. Lots of cussing had been done by this point over the length of the run, so it was a good thing there was beer at the regroup.

After the group which followed the trail gulped down their beer to cath up with the S.C.B.s, the pack took a straight path back to Brentwood, ignoring the pain of trying to follow the actual trail back in. The pack got in at about 8.45 pm.

After lots of complaining about the length of the run, Tiny Bubbles came by and explained that it was a live hare run. Ohhhh. In retrospect, all of a sudden the run and the markings seemed to make a whole lot more sense.

Down Downs were given as follows:
