Today's question is: Sure, Pyro was honoured with a half-yard for his 850th hash, but how on earth did he miss 468 others, which is about nine years' worth?

Was he sick? Traveling? Tired? Or did he just not feel like spending another in a seemingly endless string of Mondays looking for chalk, flour and flagging?

Whatever the reasons, he managed to wash them away with a highly impressive 22-second Big Rock down-down at Cha-Cha's in barely NW Calgary on an often-icy early January evening.

Co-hares Auntie Frank and Hash Test laid a trail that ran up, down, around and through the hoods near Northmount Drive NW and John Laurie Boulevard, among other places.

Marks were sometimes hard to find, or so it seemed. But, fortunately, everyone made it back to the bar in one piece for business conducted by cunning linguist and RA Skewbic, who puzzled the pack by using big words such as harbinger. Some of his down-down victims included:

Pee-On, who usually wears shorts but instead went for a fashion look with green stockings that were a cross between Mini-Me and the Incredible Hulk. Pee-On assured fellow hashers that she was not suffering from any kind of strange disease, but was just trying to keep her legs warm.

Lakey, who still hasn't left for Victoria, and won't till she sells the house, which a certain unidentified real estate agent is working feverishly to do. There was some idle chatter about Lakey and a pole dance, but this is a family website, so it's better left unsaid.
The long-lost Lost in Space and F4, who were archives. True to his name, Lost was seen on trail, walking around and mumbling something about trying to find the walkers.
Wet One, who got the good Hash Thingy, assuming there actually can be a good Hash Thingy, for some reason or other. Auntie Frank warned her sternly and repeatedly before the run about not going through checkbacks. But Auntie would have been more successful trying to explain nuclear physics in Chinese to George W. Bush.
Twisty, who could have gotten a down-down but didn't for agreeing to actually work for Dreary and to take a six-month leave of absence from her duties as a security person at the Saddledome. On the bright side, she'll get to spend more evenings with her family. On the down side, no more ear-splitting concerts with Half the Who and groups such as that.
Right Bun, who could have gotten a down-down in absentia for agreeing, for some reason, to get married, according to an announcement from Left Bun, who would know these things. Maybe the Houston heat and humidity were getting to Right Bun, and she wasn't thinking clearly. Perhaps she didn't want to face another night in a Texas honky-tonk without a huge rock on her finger to serve as a redneck repellent.
But, yes, it's true. She's taking the plunge.
