And on the seventh day -- or perhaps it was the 27th -- the Calgary hash finally rested.

But not until it crammed in one more post-Stampede hash -- not unlike a group of barflies ordering one last round before the lights come on -- at mosquito-infested Bowness Park. The Pesky Bug Fest, co-hared by Left Bun and Knobby, ended a lengthy string of hashes that included full moons, gerbils, dogs, pigs, a talking frog, salmon, beer, innumerable water crossings and bear poop.

Ah, the joys of hashing.

Captain Canada, a Montreal hasher, didn't seem to mind. He took advantage of a five-hour layover at the Calgary airport on his flight from somewhere in way northern Alberta to Montreal to join the merriment.
Nor did Easy Drunk, who had the courage (?) to appear in red and white striped (almost to the knee) socks apparently stolen from the Dr. Seuss Museum on her recent foray into Mexico. Her true test, though, will come at the next hash when she has the chance to wear one Dr. Seuss sock and one of her cow socks as a mismatched set. When asked about Easy Drunk's sense of socks style, noted fashion maven Mr. Blackwell mumbled something about the worst socks ever and fainted.
Right Bun didn't assist her sister in crime, Left Bun, in setting trail. Ms. R. Bun was too busy canoodling with her Houston Boy Toy to help, but she did take time out from her busy schedule as an international jet-setter to attend the hash. Right Bun's next adventure? Baffin Island, of all places, for two weeks in August. She claims she got two free tickets to that godforsaken land, but it was unclear if second prize was four tickets.
Sucks Everything actually managed to attend the hash wearing men's clothing, as opposed to his sartorial adventure at the weekend Stampede hash in K-Country. Captain Canada was incredibly relieved that Sucks still wasn't wearing Skully's tight blue dress, although he was worried a little when Sucks offered him a ride to the airport on his motorized bicycle. Sucks was just kidding, maybe.
The trail revealed a sure-fire way for Lamb Chop to stop talking, at least momentarily. Think berries in the woods, lots and lots of berries. Mr. Chop stopped his never-ending chat-a-thon long enough to scarf down berries as he trudged through the thick brush just the other side of the murky lagoon. On the downside, his eating prevented other hashers from continuing on trail. Perhaps Lamb Chop was having trouble eating and walking at the same time.
The ever-diligent Left Bun managed to take down flagging on trail before the pack came through, leaving some stragglers such as Duke of Hurl in a state of confusion. Left Bun mentioned something about Knobby sweeping the course, but he was never spotted -- something about tall grass and weeds hiding him or something.
Swingin' Tail attended her last hash before her "Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead" going out of business party at her sewing store, which takes place Saturday after 7:30 p.m. at In Stitches at 1007 11th Ave. SW in downtown Calgary. Rumour has it that Ms. Tail decided to sell her long-time business and start a nude quilting and cross-stitching website at www.QuiltNaked.ca -- or something like that.
The Bowness trail only included two or three water crossings, which was a far cry from the 17 or so at the Stampede hash. There was also no bear dung or elk droppings along the Bow River in Bowness.
Several hashers, who shall remain unidentified, didn't attend the hash because they were worn out from non-stop Stampede partying. There was also no truth to the rumour that some tried to attend the Stampede on Monday, even though it ended Sunday. No wonder those chuckwagon tickets were selling at such a discount.

So how many days is it till the Stampede debauchery starts again?
